The Brief
British Gas is the largest energy and home service provider in the UK and has a long and prestigious history.
Domino Commercial Interiors worked collaboratively with British Gas in the design and refurbishment of twelve toilet facilities, including accessible gents and ladies’ bathrooms. The toilet locations were spread across four floors of a single building, which meant that Domino had to carefully consider the work plan so that it would cause minimal disruption to the client. Our work aimed to support the clients’ vision to move from being a transactional utility to a trusted brand.
The existing toilets required a full strip-out of old equipment and the area to be replaced with modern and attractive features.
The project covered all aspects of each facility, including floor and wall tiling, new cubicle systems, toilets, waterless urinals, and sinks specifically designed with integrated all-in-one Dyson taps and dryers.
The project called for a wide range of our specialisms, including the design, the planning and installation of mechanical, plumbing, ventilation, heating and cooling systems. The design work was planned meticulously to ensure that the space was attractive, functional and accessible.
The Challenges
British Gas is a leader in health and safety policies, so a wide range of both universal and unique H&S practices had to be followed by every member of our team at all times. In addition, it was crucial that the company’s staff could go about their working day without being interrupted or inconvenienced by this extensive refurbishment project. Domino also needed to ensure that the proposed space would be completed within budget and in a time efficient manner.
The Outcome
The twelve new toilet areas are sleek and stylish whilst maximising accessibility, functionality, comfort, movement and hygiene. They perfectly complement the British Gas brand; their values and they present a professional and welcoming layout and appearance to everyone who visits them.
