The Brief
Westfield Health specialises in private health insurance and has over 100 years of history within the health care sector.
Domino was approached by Westfield Health in Sheffield to refurbish its ground floor space after previous collaboration. Domino was asked to design a functional and attractive gym for their staff and the tenants of Westfield House. They knew that Domino Commercial Interiors could create a modern and state-of-the-art space fitted with resistance equipment, with a focus on well being and a community atmosphere.
Our concepts were based on their equipment criteria in order to ensure safety, movement, accessibility and ease of use for the users of the space.
This was because it is important that the gym space is both accessible and represents their mission of making a healthy difference to the quality of life of our customers and the communities in which they live and work. Our team also managed the Mechanical and Electrical designs for the ventilation, heating and temperature control systems. This ensured that the gym remains fresh, hygienic and comfortable even when multiple people are using the equipment simultaneously.
The Challenges
Timing was crucial throughout this refurbishment project. Domino had to factor in the arrival of large gym equipment being shipped from the USA. Gym flooring was also installed within a precise time frame, as it was subcontracted to the same American-based company providing the equipment.
Other considerations for this project included aligning the floor levels, relocating drainage pipes, and the implementation of IT equipment into the client’s existing network server as it was important that the new space was fit for purpose and followed the brief given. Thanks to our advanced project management expertise, everything was completed on time without any disruptions.
The Outcome
The new gym is a vibrant, functional and welcoming space where staff and residents can enjoy some exercise and improve their mood through fitness. It fulfills the brief that Domino was given by the client and shows Westfield Health’s brand identity.
