The Brief
Designing and building new breakout areas
Domino Commercial Interiors received a brief Centrica for us to design and build new breakout areas that would provide updated and enhanced facilities for the company’s staff. Centrica was confident in our expertise because Domino was able to add value to the design, along with our capability to manage and carry out all aspects of the build at a competitive price.
The project involved multiple unique areas and different settings that would present the ideal spot for eating, drinking and socialising within the workplace.
Domino used these guidelines to influence the design and build of breakout facilities, new kitchenettes on each floor, and hybrid areas that could host informal meetings as well as lunch breaks.
Different types of seating were incorporated into the plans to ensure that each space was fit for purpose. Examples of this includes banquet seating and comfortable chairs for relaxed reading. Other features included recycling points, instant boiling and chilled water taps, and an atmosphere that would ensure the space was used throughout the day rather than just at lunchtime.
The Challenges
Our clever designs were transformed into bright, airy, welcoming, comfortable and modern surroundings that allowed for flexibility on how each space is used. This innovative hybrid space is now used for everything from quick breaks and dinner hours to informal meetings and brainstorming sessions throughout the working day.
